This is a good question and a responsible question! It was also one of our biggest concerns that we had when we got into traveling using points and miles! (But FYI our credit scores have both gone up since we started using our method to travel with points and miles! In fact, Kamree’s just reached 868!!!!)

• The two highest impacts to your credit score are your payment history (so always pay your card in full and on time!) and your credit utilization (how much available credit you use - the less available credit you use the better it is for your credit score.)
• A medium impact to your credit score is the age of your credit. (Closing the credit card that you have had open since you were 18 will hurt your score a lot more than closing a card that you’ve only had open for a year or two!) 
•  Smaller impacts to your credit score are credit mix (the number of lines of credit that you have) and hard inquiries/new credit.Sometimes when you apply for a credit card, there is a hard pull to your credit. We have noticed that our credit scores drop momentarily (5-10 points) when we apply for a new card but bounce back in about a month!

Most good travel reward credit cards come with an annual fee. (In fact, the credit card that we recommend starting with has a $95 annual fee.)  The annual fee is almost always worth it the first year when you get the welcome offer! For most welcome offers, you need to spend around $3,000-$4,000 on your credit card in 3-4 months in order to earn a certain amount of points. Many welcome offers are worth around $750-$1,000 in free travel. (But we know ways to stretch that welcome offer to a lot more travel value than that!) Paying a $95 fee the first year for the welcome offer is a no brainer, but what do you do after the first year when the annual fee hits again? In Travel Reward University, we will teach you what you can do to avoid paying that annual fee again once you’ve had your card open for a year! We also show you how you can have your annual fee pay for itself!
